6x6 App Reviews

Excellent app & support

Ive used 6x6 for a long time and the developer has consistently updated as he did with the most recent iOS 6 and new iPhone 5 release. It just TAKES TIME people. Stop bad mouthing the developer and look for some solution yourself. There is a wealth of info on the support site (link an location here in the App Store). And he responds quickly to emails. And come on people stop being lazy...when something isnt working the first thing you should try is to delete and reinstall. 9/10 problems are solved with this issue.

Ne Plus Ultra!

Over the moon with the new update! This app is, once again, simply the best ever.

Great

In a moment of frustration playing around with my Nikon and Canon digital SLRs longing for simpler days gone by I am seriously considering buying a new Leica M. I searched the word Hasselblad in the App Store and this 6x6. I have no idea why black-and-white is so spectacular in this program compared to other camera programs but it is!!!! I always enjoyed the 6 x 6 format and I find a layout and the appearance of vulcanite visually reassuring Im very grateful for the upgrade that they just did and I feel that even though he given us many different selections in black-and-white I havent quite gotten in the new Version Im sure I will. I use this as my Camera Everyday, thanks M

5 stars

The best square format app. Period.

My go-to camera app!

Great for taking square photos! Fast, flexible, and simple to use!

Whoops!

Suddenly clunky and slow. I loved this app because it just took fast, clean square shots. Dont know whats up but its definitely very punky now.

OK. What happened?...

This was the only camera app I used (and I gave it 5 stars), but since this latest update its slow and clumsy, crashing after 2 or 3 shots. Slow start up, slow focus - what the hell happened? Im actually losing images -the shutter click sounds, but the image isnt recorded. Absolutely unacceptable! Im shopping for another camera app...

Still Great!!!!

This remains one of my favorite camera apps, especially for street shooting. Its fast, reliable, and the interface never gets in the way. For straight shooting in crowds and variable lighting conditions, it doesnt get any better than 6x6.

Ok, but missing basic function

Why in the world would there still be a camera app that doesnt allow you to use the volume button as the shutter release? I really love the simplicity and output of this app, and would use it as my primary camera app, but this simple missing function is very frustrating. Guess I will wait till the next update to see if things improve.

Crashes

6x6 will crash while taking multiple photos, the pictures you took will not be saved to the photo roll and will be lost. That is a deal breaker. Also a minor issue is the grid is displayed during app startup even when the grid is set to off.

My go-to camera app

Easily... I repeat: Easily the best iPhone camera app I have. This is my go-to app in nearly all situations. I am one of the "truly obsessive" types that keeps it in black & white and TLR modes. It works great in conjunction with my Mamiya C330S TLR as a light meter, but I use it more and more not as a companion, but as one of my main cameras, along side my Nikons, Crown Graphics, and Mamiya. The quality of b/w contrast is near perfect right out of the app, rarely needing any tweaking. I keep the yellow filter on nearly always. One wish: to have option to choice which other I would like to have couple with it for editing. Right now, it defaults to Camera+, but when I do edit on the iPhone, I prefer Pro Camera.

Was great. Now Terrible.

What on Earth is the problem with this app? 6x6 and 6x7 used to be my favorite photo apps. Now every update makes them buggier and buggier. Ive lost so many good shots due to app crashing that it makes me sick. I keep hoping that the next update will fix the bugs but it keeps getting worse.

Not Responsive, Knot Focus

Push a button three second a later snap a picture no focus. Yike a make so mad a bang head on table a ouch

perfect but missing one thing

i would of gave it 5 stars but it needs a WB lock feature, without it i cant delete 645 pro and i would really just like to have 6x6 and 6x7. please add WB lock.

App is cool but has a bug

I was told about this app by a fellow photographer. I checked it out and fell in love with it. You need to have the option for "borders" turned off though, or else the app will crash on you the moment you hit the shutter. Other than that, I love the user interface and the options for color and black-and-white photography.

Keeps crashing!

Previous version was my Go-to app but the new one crashes constantly and there is no support. Bummer.

Live previews rocks

Having live previews, especially for black and white capture, is wonderfully helpful at seeing better in monochrome. Anytime I photograph in black and white this is now where I start. TIFF exporting looks cool, too. The focus and exposure controls take some getting used to but its worth learning.

Smart contrast

You can take photos with great contrast. No need to edit in another app.

The best camera app for square pictures

It just needs to be updated for iOS 7, specifically for 64 bit processors.

A photographic time machine

I am a fan of 645 Pro and PureShot and bought this (and 6x7) mainly to show support for the developer. That said, 6x6, 6x7 and 645 together constitute a course in vintage photography (I left out Field Camera; I dont have an iPad). Working within the constraints of 6x6 and 6x7 allows me to concentrate on honing my image composition skills. 645, with its film stock and glass filter emulation has helped to provide me with a grounding in color composition that I didnt gain from just pushing sliders in Photoshop. These apps have afforded me the opportunity to use (in virtual form) cameras of the past to sharpen my skills in the digital age of photography. Considering the small outlay for all these apps, it is a rewarding experience.
