6x6 App Reviews

I really love SQUARE photos, particularly for use with INSTAGRAM. (most of my Instagram images @douglasgottlieb are taken with this app). It has a clean, easy interface, great exposure and focus controls and nice amenities, like custom grids and mono option. The PROBLEM with the app is that it cannot shoot a large series of images rapidly. Doing so causes the app to continue to shoot, and only a minute or two later are you alerted that it failed to save. Thats a big issue. It doesnt alert you of the problem right away -- so you lose your shots. In spite of this serious flaw, I still find that the other benefits of the app keep me coming back to it, particularly when Im shooting slowly, and carefully. If it could better handle rapid shooting (and offered a front facing option for self portaits), this would be the only camera Id use. As it is, I still use the Apple camera and other rapid fire apps when capturing fast. I hope a future update addresses the image buffer problem. Then it will be a 5 star app.

Being a pretty heavy instagram user this has become my go to camera app. Its nice and fast and good for snapping many photos at once so that then I can go back and edit them later. Love it for its simplicity and speed.

This is an awesome app, especially since I am really into Instagram, its the perfect format for that. Two features Id love to see, HDR & the ability to shoot b&w + color at the same time with 2 images being saved. Give me those & its 5 stars.

I love instagram but when I want to take a bunch of square photos instagram is too slow. what with having to upload then delete if I want to take more than one photo, edit and upload later. so this is perfect for me!

There are plenty of square frame camera apps but this is the one you want for the best quality and user interface. The only one I believe to offer true B&W preview at full resolution, so you can see how your shot will actually look in monochrome before you fire the shutter. The other controls for tone, focus and exposure are easy to set and effective. I have a dozen camera apps, including the highly rated Cameras +, Pro and Awesome, not to mention Hipstamatic and Instagram, but for pure picture taking, this is the best of the lot.

Having shot film with a TLR Rollie Flex- I was intrigued when I first saw 6x6. Its a great camera and the last update made it super! I shot a lot for Instagram (@jth1957) and I use this camera almost exclusively for that purpose. Kudos to the design and development team!

Yes, theres a bug as previously described when realtime preview is "on." When its turned "off," the photo is captured properly. Just need that fixed and all should be fine again.

As noted in other review, parallax error remains in v2.11 when Real Time Preview is on. Please fix soon!

6x6 has been my go-to shooting app for quite a while. with live preview its even better!! and yes the parallax problem has been fixed.

Now with real-time preview, this app is perfect: simple, elegant, efficient, and a pleasure to use. I can think of no other feature that could improve it. I use it regularly. The developer is also super responsive and friendly. I cannot wait to download his new app, 645 pro, all his apps are winners! Thank you!!

This app is simple & quick! Most of all, it makes it so much easier to frame pictures for Instagram! Especially when shooting with an external lens! It shoots square and center of the lens at full resolution! Best $1 camera app I have ever purchased! Plus, the creator responded quickly & with good detail! Cant ask for much more than that!

as much as I like a rectangular format . . . the 6X6 app has replaced . . . or has given me an option that I LOVE . . . like finding an old GF next door and she still likes you . . . oh yeh . . . for those of us retro analog guys who miss silver based film . . . darkrooms . . . chemicals . . . this app is like going back in time without going back in time . . . buy it !!

I fell in love with 6x7/6x6 when I heard about them last year. For photos that dont need a zoom these were my go tos. However, Ive noticed over the past month Im losing pictures. Not everyone. But about half disappear. No clue where the go but they arent saving to my camer roll. I noticed that Mike H also wrote 645Pro. So I guess this is a lose/win situation. Im going to start using 645Pro on the 6x6 setting because its square. But I am not going to use 6x6. Edit. I love how the develop er helped in trouble shooting.

If square photos are your thing then this is your app. Its got an basic and easy to understand interface that lets you get right to taking photos. Im docking it one star because the method to independently lock focus and exposure is clumsy. It should use the method found in other apps like Camera+ or ProCamera.

This is my go-to shooting app of many on my phone. Crystal clear images in a serious nostalgic format. Yields distinctive un-cheesy photos for instagram. Deserves to be far more popular in the AppStore.

I just downloaded this app yesterday and it doesnt work. Apparently this is because I upgraded my OS. No good.

I love this camera but I cant use it with the new iOs 6! Please update and earn your 5 stars!

Please, check the app. It crash every time I try to take some pics! This app is very important for my photographic work! Pease update for iOS 6!
